„NO VANDALISM!“ was shouted by the demonstrators who took the streets of Fortaleza, Ceará. However among the crowds at the demonstrations that exploded in Brazil in June 2013, some groups have chosen for more direct methods. Labeled as „vandals“ they were criminalized by the mainstream press, even without been heard. This documentary goes to the „front line“ to shoot the confrontations and interviewing demonstrators, an attempt to find out the motivations of civil disobedience.

RIO IN FLAMEN ist ein Film über die soziale Krise in der Stadt Rio de Janeiro und die öffentlichen Protesten, die seit Mitte 2013 andauern. Eine Demonstration wurde aus mehreren Perspektiven von verschiedenen Filmemacher begleitet, in einer Zusammenfassung von Aufnahmen aus Aussagen, Fiktion, Animation und Dokumentarfilm Aufzeichnungen, ohne vorzugeben einen Gesamtüberblick über die Ereignisse die sich seitdem angesammelt haben zu präsentieren, sondern in dieser Zeit Teil zu sein.
